Can I interest you in a bird?

The young'uns are all out and adjusting to life in the cage. I've included a pic of #2 then a pic of him/her next to #1. How far down the white feathers around the neck go is the only way I can tell them apart.

#3, who Karyn has dubbed "Corky", has a bit of a crook in his neck. It seems to be getting better, but his head is definitely angled upwards most of the time. Hopefully it's just a carry-over from his positioning in the nesting box. I'm also tossing a pic of the bedroom up here. I apologize for the dry post. If you need to laugh at something, laugh at Corky. I promise, this is the last of the bird posts. It was a favor to my mother...

New Bird in Town

Due to the insatiable mothering tendencies of a certain Lynn Jensen, we made the move back to Philly with three infant parakeets in tow. Despite the uncomfortably proximate familial circumstances of their parenting, the young'uns appear healthy, if not freakishly identical to their progeniture. After a few instances of peak-a-boo yesterday, the first of the brood had emerged from the nesting box today when we arrived home. He/she has the white "mane" of his/her father, Sonny, and is a good looking, quiescient (for now anyway) 'keet. Note: to be equitable, I've also thrown in a picture of our resident domestic shorthair, Mr. Thome West.

And now...

...for a fresh post. We made the multistage move on Sunday and Monday, packing up our stuff which was spread out over Westlake, Avon, Sandusky and downtown Philly. By around 2 on Monday everything was in and it's been hard labor getting things in order since. Wish I had done some before and after shots of the place, and the overgrown grounds in particular, but hey -- I'm new to this. For now the only passable picture is this one of our exercise room. Also tossing one up here of the south view from the third floor. More to come once we get things in a condition worth showing.

Catch Up Post, II

Okay, one more retroactive post before I get this up to date. Here are a couple choice shots from our adventures in Philly during the first part of the year (and one more of my office which, remarkably, looks completely different from every angle).
