Last night around 10 when Karyn went in to check on Margaux, she found chunks of her memory foam pillow strewn all about the bed and floor. It was clear from the earlier ruckus on the monitor that she had settled into her slumber restlessly, evidently so much so that she unzipped the pillowcase and apparently either ripped or bit apart the entire edge of her pillow. The mystery was solved this morning when I woke her (mom had left for work) and she confirmed, "I ate-ed tha pillow." Today's nap was uneventful, but her mother gave her a stern warning before bed tonight not to "ate-ed tha pillow", and that if she did, it would be taken away. Margaux seemed to agree and instead offered that she would "eat-a her toes." We weren't exactly sure what she intended by this, but we viewed it as unlikely that she would eat her feet and put her down for the night. About a half hour later, we heard Margaux crying out over the monitor in shameful admission that she had "ate-ed the pillow." Sure enough, she had once again unzipped the pillowcase and begin to gnaw away at her pillow, leaving chunks of foam rubber scattered around. Well, her parents kept their word and dad removed the pillow from the bed. No sooner had I left the room than Margaux began to wail in a manner never before witnessed. After a few minutes, in an effort to appease her, I came in and offered her one of the small pillows from the queen bed in the bedroom. This and several minutes of soothing seemed to settle her down.
